Arcbazar | Interior design, remodeling, home tech and architectural news, tips and DIYs.
If you are not familiar with Arcbazar, we should first explain the concept. This is a platform that allows you to crowdsource architectural design ideas for a fraction of the cost. Interior design, home remodeling, landscaping - these are all expensive jobs. As a result, most people either can't afford to hire an architect/interior designer or prefer to save money on it and go down the DIY route. However, if you are not an expert in the field, it is extremely challenging to achieve the perfect balance of functionality and aesthetic, meaning you often times end up sacrificing one or the other. That's where Arcbazar comes in. We give you access to our network of thousands of architects and designers located all over the world who, on a competitive basis, will submit their ideas for your project. It is up to you to decide how much to reward, what time frame to give the designers, and who gets the prize. Our motto is "democratizing architecture" as we strive to do exactly that - make the process affordable and transparent. You also have fun, which is an added bonus.
Great ideas overall. I felt really fortunate to have so many designers interested in helping me. I loved 90% of the submissions. They gave me great ideas, and it was evident that they really liked participating and most of the designers took the challenge seriously.
We regularly catch up with the designers and architects in our network, learning about their background, architectural aesthetic and their experience on our platform. As part of our series, we had a chance to catch up with Kazumichi 'Kazu' Umezawa, a Japanese architect who currently resides in Shanghai.
Arcbazar is a community of thousands of designers in every corner of the world. We are proud of the diversity of our network - different countries, languages, gender and levels of experience. A couple of weeks ago we did the European edition of our top designers - determined through an algorithm that takes into consideration numerous factors, including the number of competitions a designer took part in, the number of wins, etc. Today we'd like to introduce you to our top 10 designers in North and South Americas.
Arcbazar, a global leader of crowdsourced architecture, announces the expansion of its offerings with the introduction of a co-branding feature for B2B clients, including real estate agents, brokers, developers, contractors, construction companies, and facility managers.

We often interview home owners, advisors and architects on our platform. Through these interactions we have virtually traveled to New Zealand, Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland and numerous other places. It never fails to amaze us how global our platform is. Every now and then, however, we get the pleasure of meeting various members of our network in person, as it happened last month in Tokyo, Japan, where Imdat As, the CEO and Founder of Arcbazar, presented new and upcoming digital features for sourcing architectural design, at the 10th Annual Forum8 Design Festival. That's where we met a design power house from Romania - two up-and-coming architects Vlad Andrei Popa and Ioan Ralea-Toma. Their submission in the Obama Presidential Library competition earlier this year caught the attention of many, including Forum8, who invited them to attend the event.
As we are getting ready to wrap up this year, we decided to take a closer look at the Top Designers charts on Arcbazar. Our platform brings together thousands of designers and home owners. We run competitions of every size, on (almost) every continent. Some of our designers have been with us since the beginning. Many are a recent addition. Having hosted over 1,000 competitions in the last few years and having gathered over 50,000 submissions, Arcbazar has distributed more than $1 million in awards since the launch of the platform. None of it, of course, would've been possible without the dedication, talent and creativity of our designers. So, over the next few posts we are putting the spotlight on our favorite designs from Arcbazar's top designers. Today we are focusing on those who are based in Europe. Note, that these rankings change over time as each designer's score depends on the number of submitted projects, his/her success rate, customers' rankings and a number of other factors.
Arcbazar, the first global crowdsourcing platform for architectural design, has announced the launch of the Sustainability Score, which will be officially released in Q1 2017. Dr. Imdat As, CEO and Founder of Arcbazar, presented new and upcoming digital features for sourcing architectural design, at the 10th Annual Forum8 Design Festival, which took place in Tokyo between November 16 - 18. These features were showcased in particular with the Obama Presidential Center - a project completed with competition partners, Builtworlds, Forum8, Autodesk, Green Apple Campus, AIA Chicago, and Dwell on Design, on Arcbazar’s crowdsourcing platform between February and June 2016.
